Growing up in Westminster, and now raising kids in Adams County, I’m vested in our community and want to see it thrive amidst all that is great in Colorado. It was dumb luck that I met Becky Hoffman at a charity breakfast three years ago and first learned of the Youth Initiative. Collective impact was (and is) all the rage in philanthropy and I was stunned to hear that we had a cutting edge, intentional organization leading collective impact on a county-wide scale right in my backyard. Not only that, but I learned that it was leveraging student-level data to support our elected officials, administrators and educators to invest in pedagogy that gives our students a better chance to succeed. Across the organizations with which I’ve been involved, never have I seen one with the Youth Initiative’s ability to have a broad, systematic impact on education.
As a board, our role is to champion the Youth Initiative as it operates a backbone that mobilize officials, educators and mentors to make data-driven decisions that improve educational outcomes for all Adams County kiddos. We have an incredible staff, incredible leadership and an incredible story. Give any of us a chance, and we’ll tell you all about it!
